Police in Fort Smith have named a man charged in connection with last week’s reported armed standoff in the town.

Some residents were temporarily evacuated during the incident, which began late on the afternoon of October 4 and ran into the early hours of October 5.

At the time, police said a man had been safely arrested after acquiring a weapon and barricading himself inside a home. An emergency response team, including negotiators, spent time at the scene.

On Friday, RCMP said Bradley James Hunter, a 33-year-old Fort Smith resident, faced charges of uttering threats, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and careless use of a firearm.
