RCMP investigate alleged crowbar assault in Fort Smith
Fort Smith RCMP are investigating an alleged assault on December 16 which resulted in a man being flown to Edmonton for further treatment.
The injured man has been identified locally as Vance Bourque. A witness to the incident described Bourque being attacked with a crowbar.
“One person was arrested and subsequently released with charges for assault with a weapon,” RCMP spokesperson Marie York-Condon told Cabin Radio, adding there is “no public safety concern at this time.”

York-Condon said police responded to the call at 3:13am on December 16, after which an individual “received medical treatment at the local hospital and was sent to Edmonton for further assessment.”
Bourque’s current medical condition is not known.
