Suspect in custody after Kátł’odeeche stabbing

Hay River RCMP said a suspect is in custody following an alleged stabbing on Saturday morning in Kátł’odeeche First Nation.

Police said Donald Alexander Jensen, 23, of Hay River, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault.

The victim, who has not been identified, was brought to the Hay River Regional Health Centre before being transported to Stanton Territorial Hospital.

Their injuries were reported to be serious but not life-threatening.

Police received the call at 8:10am on March 9, and the suspect was located later that same day.

The investigation is ongoing, with a police dog team having assisted a search of the area in which the assault is alleged to have taken place. RCMP said they are not looking for any other suspects.
