RCMP in Inuvik are investigating reports of a suspicious fire early on Wednesday morning at the Lakeview Apartment Complex.
Police said a vehicle was reported to have been set alight. The fire was quickly extinguished by residents before RCMP arrived.
Inside the building, residents reported smelling a “strong, noxious substance” while hearing a man running through the hallways, yelling.
The suspect fled the scene. He is described as a tall, slender man wearing a black and red jacket.

“RCMP take the actions of this individual very seriously and are exploring charges related to arson, mischief endangering life, as well as uttering threats,” wrote Cst Heather Cosenzo in a news release on Wednesday.
