An Ontario 24-year-old is accused of cocaine trafficking after police reported seizing crack cocaine and cash in Inuvik on Thursday.
On Saturday morning, RCMP said the seizure contained around $2,000 in cash alongside “approximately 194 grams of crack cocaine.”
William Powell, from Mississauga, is charged with cocaine trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
“Illegal drugs are hurting our communities. NT RCMP is putting every effort to protect the most vulnerable members of our society,” read a statement from police spokesperson Marie York-Condon.
“This seizure helps in reducing the harm caused by illegal drugs in our community.”
Powell, who is being held in custody, is due to appear in court in Yellowknife on Monday.
This is the second time this month that Inuvik RCMP’s ornamental banknote arrangement skills have been tested.
Earlier in March, police in the community put $69,000 in cash on display after a separate drug bust, which led to the arrest of an Edmonton man.
