‘Loving father’ Archie Wedzin remembered after Behchokǫ̀ incident

A Behchokǫ̀ woman says her brother passed away in the community on Monday, leaving behind six daughters and two sons.

Writing online, Nora Wedzin remembered Archie Wedzin as “a loving father … and a very loving brother to all.”

Nora said police were continuing to investigate Archie’s death.

People in Behchokǫ̀ reported spending much of Monday afternoon “on lockdown” with police going door-to-door advising residents to remain indoors.

While RCMP said a “serious incident” had taken place, no further detail has yet been provided.

The Tłı̨chǫ drummers, posting an online tribute, mourned the Wedzin family’s loss and “another sad day in the Tłı̨chǫ region.”
