A man received a medevac to Edmonton after apparently being assaulted in Inuvik early on Sunday, police say.

In a news release on Tuesday, RCMP said officers found an injured man “laying on Bonnetplume Road” shortly after 10am on Sunday.

“He was transported to Inuvik Regional Hospital and later transported by medevac to Edmonton for further treatment of serious injuries,” RCMP said.

“At this time, no suspects have been identified.”

RCMP said they were investigating the incident as an “alleged aggravated assault.”

Police asked anyone who “may have witnessed an altercation” on Sunday morning, or any suspicious activity in the Bonnetplume Road area, to call Inuvik RCMP at 867-777-1111.
