‘Suspicious’ fire damages YK snowmobiles, police investigate

Four snowmobiles and surrounding buildings were left damaged by a fire near Yellowknife’s Jeske Crescent on Thursday morning.

Police say they are investigating the fire, which was reported to RCMP at around 4am.

Police said they found “four snowmobiles with substantial damage” at the scene, in the Range Lake area of the city. Firefighters were also called out.


“Some surrounding structures sustained damage from the fire,” stated a police news release on Thursday afternoon.

Nobody was reported injured. Police termed what happened “suspicious activity.”

“Yellowknife RCMP is assisting the Office of the Fire Marshal with the investigation,” police said.
