RCMP in Inuvik say a 17-year-old boy has been charged after being found with “a large quantity of crack cocaine.”
In a news release on Thursday, police said 17 ounces of the drug were seized at the town’s Mike Zubko Airport on Tuesday.
As a minor, the boy cannot be named.
He faces charges relating to the trafficking of cocaine and breach of recognizance.
“Our police officers are committed to removing illicit drugs and the associated potential danger from our streets,” said Olena Newmen, acting commander of the Inuvik RCMP detachment, in a statement.
“Our community is safer after taking these drugs off the street.”
