Police in Fort Smith sealed off a house in the community in the early hours of Friday morning.
RCMP said their decision to “secure the perimeter” of the house, on St Anne’s Street, came following a call to officers on Thursday evening.
Residents in the area reported hearing two loud bangs and seeing police officers spread out around the house.
RCMP reported additional officers from Yellowknife and Hay River were called in to help hold the perimeter “for a short period of time” while an investigation took place.
It’s not clear what happened at the house, or what exactly police were investigating.
However, an RCMP spokesperson wrote: “The investigation provided no persons of interest.”
Nobody was reported injured, nobody is in custody, and there are no public safety concerns at this time, said police – who continue to investigate.
