Police in Yellowknife are investigating a reported armed robbery at a Forrest Drive convenience store.

RCMP say they were called to Circle K, known to many residents as Mac’s, shortly after midnight in the early hours of Friday.

“A man entered the store, demanding cash from the store clerk, while wielding a knife,” police said in a news release later on Friday.

“The suspect is described as being 5 ft 10 in, with a slender build and a darker complexion. At the time of the incident the suspect was wearing a black coat or sweater with a hood over his head.”

Police said nobody was injured, and asked for witnesses to come forward.

“Yellowknife RCMP are requesting that if you were in the area of Franklin Drive and Forrest Drive during the early morning hours of June 7, 2019 to please contact the detachment at 867-765-3900.”

Convenience stores in Yellowknife have been targeted in a range of similar attacks so far this year.

In March, police said an incident at the Sunlines store was the fourth such robbery of 2019.
