RCMP, Parks Canada investigate Pine Lake gunshot report
Fort Chipewyan RCMP and Parks Canada wardens are investigating after a firearm was reportedly discharged at a cabin near Pine Lake, in Wood Buffalo National Park, on Sunday.
A Parks Canada spokesperson said nobody had been hurt in the incident, adding no charges have yet been laid.
Fort Chipewyan RCMP did not respond to a request for comment.
Pine Lake is located 60 km south of Fort Smith, across the border with Alberta.
The incident sparked rumours of “a shooting” at the park’s annual Pine Lake Picnic, which was also taking place on Sunday. Parks Canada said nothing of that nature took place.
Residents reported an extensive RCMP, park warden, and emergency medical presence at the incident as they left the picnic site.
