Police in Yellowknife are appealing for the public’s help in finding the suspect in an apparent van theft on Saturday.
The van, a blue 1996 GMC Safari, was reported stolen at 6:45pm on Saturday.
RCMP eventually found the vehicle – but not whoever was driving the van at the time.
“RCMP are seeking to speak with the person who was driving it,” police said in a statement on Tuesday, adding they believe the driver was male.
A resident called Cabin Radio earlier in the week to report an incident involving RCMP and a van matching the description police provided on Tuesday.
In that incident, the resident described seeing the van outside the city’s Copper Sky condos and apartments – near School Draw Avenue – and what appeared to be officers pursuing the driver on foot.
Police said they would like to hear from the driver or anyone with information that could help identify them. You can call Yellowknife RCMP at 669-1111 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
