Parking on YK’s Franklin Avenue is free all Tuesday

Green bags descended on downtown Yellowknife parking meters, offering free parking throughout Tuesday.

NWT and NU Lotteries said it was behind the verdant venture.

The bags promote newly introduced Tuesday draws for Lotto Max, which gave away $50 million to a ticket bought in Calgary last weekend.

Parking meters throughout the downtown stretch of Franklin Avenue will remain covered by the green bags on Tuesday, meaning parking at those meters is free.

Only meters on Franklin itself have been covered. Side streets are unaffected.

While we’re here, it looks like a winning million-dollar ticket bought in the NWT last fall remains unclaimed.

Time is running out if you’re the owner of a Max Millions ticket bought last October. There’s also an unclaimed $50,000 from a Lotto 6/49 ticket bought in the NWT last November. Happy hunting!
