Fort Simpson RCMP investigating two break-ins

Police in Fort Simpson are calling for anyone who may have witnessed break-and-enters in the community this past week to get in touch.

On Tuesday at around 9am, RCMP said, police were called to the village’s post office. When they arrived, they found a broken window and were informed multiple parcels were believed missing.

Police think the break-in took place sometime over the long weekend between Friday and Tuesday.

On Wednesday, police were then called out to the golf course regarding another suspected break-and-enter. Police said they found evidence indicating a storage container had been forcibly opened.

“If anyone noticed suspicious activity in the area of the post office over the long weekend, or in the area of the golf course on Wednesday, September 4, they are asked to contact Fort Simpson RCMP at 695-1111,” said Sgt Byron Donovan, Fort Simpson RCMP detachment commander, in a statement.
