Inuvik police seize scale, money, and phones in drug raid

RCMP in Inuvik say they have charged two people with drug-related offences after searching a home in the community.

Police searched the unspecified residence on September 25, RCMP said in a news release on Tuesday.

Though police did not report finding any prepared drugs, RCMP said they had seized a “digital scale with suspected crack cocaine residue” alongside cellphones and “a large sum of Canadian currency.”

Aviugana, a 45-year-old from Inuvik, is charged with trafficking cocaine. Khan, a 19-year-old from Kelowna, is charged with possession and trafficking of cocaine alongside possession of the proceeds of crime.

Khan appeared in court in Yellowknife on Monday, police said, adding Aviugana is scheduled to appear in an Inuvik court on November 19.
