Shop YK returns, promising $3,000 prize for local shoppers

Yellowknife’s annual shop-local campaign launches on Monday, giving residents a little over a month to amass 30 stamps from the city’s stores in the hope of winning $3,000.

The campaign, dubbed #ShopYK, is run by the City of Yellowknife and the Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce.

A list of almost 50 participating stores follows at the foot of this article.

To enter, residents can collect stamps in a passport for every $20 spent at a participating stores. Once a passport reaches 30 stamps, it can be entered into the grand prize draw.

Once the promotion closes on December 2, one lucky winner will receive $3,000 to spend at participating businesses. The draw takes place on December 6.

The City said it was hoping to generate $1 million in local sales through this year’s promotion.

Last year, spending hit just over $800,000 and 1,360 passports were entered – you can complete more than one passport. Rebecca Mahler won 2018’s grand prize.
