Fire response at Centre Square mall was boiler misfire

Reports of black smoke from floors above Centre Square Mall sent Yellowknife firefighters to the scene of what ended up being a boiler misfire.

The fire division received two reports of smoke Thursday morning - they responded with one fire engine, one ambulance and two vehicles blocking off 49 Street from one end of the mall to the other.

Inside the building, occupants of the eighth floor – one of those searched by fire crews – reported neither smoke nor any suggestion of fire.
