Police charge man over Aklavik assault earlier this month
RCMP have named a man charged with aggravated assault after a reported attack in Aklavik earlier in October.
Police said a 36-year-old sustained “serious, life-threatening” injuries, requiring a medevac, during an incident in the community on the afternoon of October 6.
At the time, RCMP said the attack did not involve any weapons. They said it was “not random” in nature.
On Thursday, police said their investigation had led to the arrest of 28-year-old Aklavik resident Thomas Gordon.
Gordon faces a charge of aggravated assault, police said in a news release, and is scheduled to appear in court in Aklavik on November 21.
The man attacked has since received treatment in Edmonton, RCMP said.
