YK police say three people located after Thursday request
Police in Yellowknife cancelled an appeal for help finding a small child and two adults, saying they had been swiftly located following Thursday’s public request for help.
A news release from RCMP on Thursday evening asked residents to come forward if they had information about two adults and a small child, seen with a red stroller between Yellowknife’s swimming pool and hospital earlier that afternoon.
The nature of RCMP’s concern for the three was not clear. However, on Friday morning, police said they had located and spoken with those involved. “All are safe,” police reported.
“Late Thursday evening, RCMP were able to speak with the adult individuals after they received information. Police determined all parties were safe and there is no further investigation,” read a statement on Friday.
Staff Sergeant Yannick Hamel, the Yellowknife detachment operations manager, said police had been working with “limited information and falling temperatures [but] were able to quickly resolve the situation and are thankful for the public’s assistance.”
