Vehicles reportedly collide at busy Yellowknife intersection
Several people are believed to have been involved in a collision between two vehicles at an intersection of Yellowknife’s Old Airport Road and Borden Drive on Wednesday evening.
Emergency responders were called to the scene at around 6pm on Wednesday. The intersection in question is near The Brick and Walmart (the two roads intersect in two locations).
The cause of the incident was not immediately clear.
An SUV with a severely damaged hood lay next to another vehicle by the north side of the intersection, which leads up toward The Brick and other stores.
Municipal enforcement officers were controlling traffic as of 6:15pm. By 6:40pm, the road had fully reopened.
Cabin Radio understands one individual had already been transported to hospital by the time emergency responders arrived. The condition of those involved is not known.
The incident comes a day after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Range Lake Road and Old Airport Road.
That incident, at 7:10am on Tuesday, saw the pedestrian taken to hospital with injuries said not to be life-threatening.
RCMP said no charge had been laid over that incident, but an investigation was ongoing.
