RCMP urged residents in Fort Simpson to lock their vehicles and keep keys safe after three cars were reportedly stolen between Monday and Tuesday this week.

In all three cases, police said, the vehicles were unlocked with the keys inside.

The vehicles have since been located and investigations are ongoing.

Police said vehicle owners should lock up and activate their vehicle alarm if leaving it unattended.

RCMP recommended removing valuables from the vehicle or hiding them from plain view, as well as parking in well-lit areas if no garage is available.

Last week, the village’s Ice Breaker Lounge was broken into. In that incident, thieves took an undisclosed amount of alcohol.

Anyone with information about those crimes can contact Fort Simpson RCMP at (867) 695-1111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
