A fire has destroyed an ambulance base and one ambulance in Inuvik, but the affected company says service to the community will not suffer as a result.
Advanced Medical Solutions Inc says its base was not occupied at the time of the fire, in the early hours of Saturday morning, and nobody was injured.
“Major fire at our ambulance base in Inuvik last night, total loss,” read a statement on Facebook.
The company’s chief executive, Sean Ivens, told the CBC supplies lost in the fire were being replaced and a new ambulance will be acquired in time.

So far, there is no indication that the fire was suspicious in nature.
Despite the loss, the company says it is “fully operational with the help of the Inuvik Fire Department and many community business partners.”
