Yellowknife’s Folk on the Rocks revealed 11 more acts confirmed for the 2018 festival on Friday morning.
Manitoba singer-songwriter William Prince, winner of 2017’s Juno award for contemporary roots album of the year, leads the second wave of confirmations.
Prince is joined by Partner, aka Josée Caron and Lucy Niles, who define themselves as “part musical act, part teenage diary, and 100 percent queer.”
Edmonton alternative soul artist Nuela Charles, whose new single Do It Right was released earlier this month, is also confirmed – as is the NWT’s own Carmen Braden, who authored the original composition which opened Cabin Radio’s live launch on March 5.
Also included in Friday’s announcement are Major Funk and The Employment, The Highest Order, Lonesome Ace Stringband, JB The First Lady, Silla and Rise, Rock The Arts, and Andrea Bettger.
There is at least one more major announcement to follow. Earlier in the year, Folk on the Rocks confirmed a first set of acts including Stars and The Weather Station.
Cabin Radio will host its own Cabin Stage featuring a range of artists at this year’s festival, which takes place from July 20 to July 22.
Weekly Folk on the Rocks build-up shows begin on Cabin Radio in April, followed by live broadcasts throughout the festival weekend. Early-bird tickets for the festival are available here.
