Police arrest man on suspicion of theft aboard Inuvik flight
RCMP say they have arrested a man over an alleged mid-air theft aboard a flight from Inuvik to Yellowknife.
Police turned up at Yellowknife’s airport on Sunday afternoon after being told a 26-year-old man from Aklavik was “causing a problem” on board the flight.
“RCMP met the flight at the airport and were later notified the male passenger had allegedly stolen the cash from the in-flight purchase float,” a police statement issued on Monday read.
“The passenger was placed under arrest and is currently awaiting a remand hearing.”
Police say their investigation is continuing.
Both First Air and Canadian North operate regular Sunday flights from Inuvik to Yellowknife. RCMP did not specify which airline was involved.
