Yellowknife Wolfpack will hold Humboldt fundraiser

The Yellowknife Wolfpack hockey organization will hold a charity game in the next week to help those affected by the Humboldt Broncos bus disaster, a board member said.

Kacee MacLean, a member of Yellowknife minor hockey’s executive, wrote on Instagram: “Yellowknife Wolfpack will be hosting a charity game in the coming week. All profits to go to the Humboldt Broncos.”

Details of the game are not yet confirmed. We’ll publish information as soon as we have it.

On Saturday, the death toll from the Saskatchewan junior hockey team’s bus crash rose to 15. The Broncos’ head coach and team captain are reported to be among the dead, with another 14 people injured.

The team’s bus was carrying 29 people when it collided with a semi-trailer about 30 kilometres north of Tisdale, Sask.

A separate GoFundMe campaign for affected families had raised $1 million by Saturday afternoon, 18 hours after it had been created.
