City of Yellowknife workers have tracked down the source of a water leak affecting the city’s Coast Fraser Tower and nearby homes.
That leak manifested itself in spectacular fashion on Tuesday morning, spreading pools of water across the School Draw Avenue region of Yellowknife’s downtown.
City of Yellowknife staff had contained most of the problem by mid-morning, temporarily shutting off water supply to surrounding streets.
“The cause of the break was a broken water service pipe dedicated to the hotel sprinkler system,” said City spokesperson Iman Kassam.
“This is now an isolated issue and will not affect any water services in the area. The property manager has been notified and they are working on a plan to get the sprinkler system repaired.
:There will be an open ditch that is barricaded off in their parking lot until contractors have a chance to address the sprinkler piping.”
