Thirteen entrants have been shortlisted for the semi-finals of Yellowknife’s 2018 Win Your Space contest.

The competition, run by the City of Yellowknife, offers a year’s free leased space downtown and a range of other perks to the winning small business idea.

The contest eventually builds to a Dragons’ Den-style finale in which the winner is chosen and a series of smaller consolation prizes are awarded.

Last year’s winner of the inaugural Win Your Space contest was Ja-Pain, the recently opened Japanese downtown bakery, while florist Let Me Knot was second.

This year, the 13 semi-finalists include some well-known names.

Food truck Saffron, Digawolf frontman Jesse Gon, and Borealis Bike Tours are among those making pitches for the free space.

Five finalists will be announced in mid-August, with a grand final on August 23.
