Cabin Radio's Alice Twa, right, interviews Yellowknife's Mayor Mark Heyck about a pop-up park proposal in summer 2018.

Ecology North will turn a vacant downtown Yellowknife lot into a pop-up park this summer.

The lot between the Gold Range and Raven establishments, on 51 Street, will become a temporary park at the end of July.

Residents can contribute ideas for the park and receive up to $500 to make those ideas happen in return.

Even though it’s temporary, Mayor Mark Heyck says it’s an important contribution to downtown revitalization.
