Police have charged a Fort McPherson resident with murder after a 32-year-old man was found dead in the community last week.

In a news release issued on Friday afternoon, RCMP said they had found a man unresponsive after receiving a call in the early hours of that morning.

Medical staff subsequently pronounced the man dead, after which the RCMP major crimes unit and a forensic team arrived in the community to investigate.

On Tuesday, police confirmed 30-year-old Darcy Nerysoo of Fort McPherson faces a charge of second-degree murder. Nerysoo was taken to Yellowknife and placed in custody on Saturday. He was due in court on Tuesday.

The dead man’s identity has not been released by police. The investigation continues.
