RCMP in Norman Wells confirmed the body of a missing 39-year-old man has been found.
Howard Blondin was last seen in the community on Monday evening last week at 8pm. He was reported missing a day later.
His body was located on the weekend in the Mackenzie River outside the community, police said in a statement on Monday.
How Blondin died was not immediately clear. A post-mortem has been ordered.
Police, the community’s ground search and rescue unit, Sahtu Helicopters, and a range of volunteers including family members helped with the search.
Volunteers from Tulita and Fort Good Hope travelled to Norman Wells to offer assistance, as did the NWT’s trained police dog unit.
