The owners of Yellowknife’s Javaroma chain of cafés will close their downtown location on Sundays, beginning this weekend.
Up till now, Javaroma on Franklin Avenue has opened from 9am till 5pm each Sunday.
That will change from August 12, a decision the owners attributed to wanting more time with family members.
“Even though Sundays are a busy day for us, we feel the time has come to take a day off with our families,” the café chain posted to its Facebook page on Monday.
Javaroma’s pre-security airport location will remain open on Sundays from 8am to 6:30pm.
“We look forward to giving 100 percent to provide you with the best service we possibly can the other six days of the week,” the company said.
On Facebook, one visitor to Javaroma’s page said the news was “very disappointing” as “it is getting harder and harder to get a decent coffee in Yellowknife on the weekend.”
However, another visitor said: “Great decision. You will never regret taking a day of rest to be with your family.”
Javaroma’s downtown location joins nearby Gourmet Cup and Birchwood Coffee Kǫ̀, both of which also close on Sundays.
