Vehicle fire at Wood Buffalo’s Pine Lake campground

A vehicle and trailer fire at the Pine Lake Campground in Wood Buffalo National Park left the campers involved with minor injuries.

The incident took place at approximately 6:30am on August 26.

“Park staff responded immediately to the scene to ensure public safety. The fire department and ambulance also responded and were able to quickly put out the fire,” Cam Zimmer, acting superintendent of the park, told Cabin Radio.

Zimmer confirmed there were minor injuries to those involved.

“The cause of the fire is unknown but has been determined to be accidental and the site of the fire is in the process of being cleaned up,” he said.

The Pine Lake Campground is approximately 60 km south of Fort Smith.
