NTPC opens investigation after small Inuvik gas plant fire
The Northwest Territories Power Corporation will investigate after a “small fire” at its Inuvik gas plant on Friday afternoon.
In a news release issued on Saturday, the power corporation said the fire was contained within an exhaust pipe and safely extinguished by the plant’s own staff before the town’s fire crew arrived.
“No employees were injured as a result of the fire and an initial assessment indicates that there was no major damage done to equipment,” read the power corporation’s statement.
“A full investigation will be conducted by NTPC to determine the root cause of this incident.”
The power corporation says the incident won’t affect the provision of power to customers.
