Vehicle collision briefly disrupts downtown Yellowknife
A two-car collision at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and 52 Street briefly disrupted the morning commute for Yellowknifers.
Both vehicles – a cab and an SUV – came to rest partly on the sidewalk next to the RBC bank after the collision, which happened shortly after 8:20am.
Multiple eyewitnesses told Cabin Radio the airbags inside both vehicles deployed during the incident. The taxi was later towed from the scene.
Firefighter paramedics were on the scene assessing the vehicle’s occupants by 8:30am. It was not immediately clear if anyone was hurt, though witnesses said nobody appeared to require the use of the on-scene ambulance.
