The History of the NWT in 20 Objects

Welcome to the History of the NWT in 20 Objects – a new, flagship podcast series from Ollie Williams and the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, broadcast on Cabin Radio.

Immerse yourself in the history of the Northwest Territories and join Ollie as he tells the stories of unique items held in the museum’s collections, with help from museum staff, world-renowned experts, and the voices of people whose lives are intimately connected to objects that shaped the NWT.

As the series progresses, we’ll discover dinosaurs, unearth sealskin boots thousands of years old, experience the birth of northern flight, explore the oral history of what we call the places where we live, and much more.

In the first episode we explore the world of bush radio, through the eyes and ears of a man who spent his life on the land – Fort Smith trapper and baseball fanatic Pi Kennedy.

“A podcast is a really neat idea. There are a lot of interesting stories about NWT objects we have that people don’t know,” said Dr Sarah Carr-Locke, director of the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre.

Episodes will air every two months on Cabin Radio, with podcasts available immediately following the first broadcast via cabinradio.ca.[/vcg_textblock][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vcg_blog_posts_fancy style=”card” limit=”4″ categories=”History of the NWT” title=”Updates from the show” title_style=”style2″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_custom_heading text=”Podcasts” google_fonts=”font_family:Roboto%20Slab%3A100%2C300%2Cregular%2C700|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal”][vc_raw_html]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[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row]
