A 36-year-old man is in critical condition after what RCMP are calling an “aggravated assault” at the sobering centre on Tuesday. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the assault to contact them.
Police received a report of the incident at 5:40pm on Tuesday, RCMP stated in a news release issued on Wednesday.
The apparent victim was transported to hospital and later medevaced to Edmonton.
Police stated a suspect is in custody and the investigation continues. Neither the suspect nor victim were named.

Police said they believe passersby may have witnessed the incident and are asking any witnesses to contact the Yellowknife detachment at 669-1111.
