Big Guy Fries, a staple food vendor at Folk on the Rocks and previous operator of the Wildcat Café alongside Wing Freak, will begin offering its menu at Wood Fired Pizzeria this week.
The pizzeria opened on 49 Street in July and has been serving cheesy slices, chicken wings and garlic knots ever since.
Owner Akshay Chaudhary, who has lived in Yellowknife for six years, said he was inspired by a wood-fired pizza place he tried while visiting the US.
“This is something that I wanted to bring to Yellowknife,” he said.
Chaudhary said the restaurant has received “overwhelming support” from the community since it opened four months ago.

“People are loving the pizza and they want to come back. We see friendly faces every now and then and that’s what keeps us going,” he said.
“The support we are receiving is just amazing.”
Now, the restaurant is expanding to include Big Guy Fries. Chaudhary said the menu will offer the same gravy and cheese curd flavours Yellowknifers are familiar with, plus options such as loaded fries.
He said the menu will have a soft opening later this week.
“I’ve got an amazing team that does all the things that brings Wood Fired Pizzeria to life,” he said. “I think they’ll do the same with Big Guy Fries.”
