The City of Yellowknife is seeking public input on its 10-year reconciliation roadmap.
The city released the roadmap, which was prepared by reconciliation consultant Tanya Tourangeau, last month. It includes recommendations for the next three years as well as goals for the next decade.
Those include developing an intergovernmental partnership table, reconciliation scorecard and inclusive land acknowledgment.
The city has now launched a public survey on the roadmap. It said responses will help guide discussions at in-person sessions planned for January 2026.
The municipality encouraged people to share the survey – which closes on January 8 – with Elders, knowledge keepers and youth as “broad participation is essential for a plan that reflects lived experience and collective priorities.”
“Your reflections are deeply valued as we continue walking forward together in reconciliation,” the city stated.
The city noted this month marks a decade since the final report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada was released. It said the milestone “reminds us reconciliation is a continuous journey requiring listening, partnership, and shared guidance.”
