The NWT government says the price of fuel is changing in 14 communities served by the Petroleum Products Program.
In a Monday news release, the Department of Infrastructure announced it has updated fuel prices to reflect cost changes for wholesale fuel purchases, transportation and dispensing costs.
Communities affected by the price changes are Colville Lake, Délı̨nę, Fort Good Hope, Gamètì, Jean Marie River, Łútsël K’é, Paulatuk, Sachs Harbour, Saamba K’e, Tsiigehtchic, Tulita, Ulukhaktok, Whatì and Wrigley.
Prices for gas, heating fuel and diesel per litre have increased in Colville Lake, Fort Good Hope, Gamètì, Sachs Harbour, Sambaa K’e and Tsiigehtchic, while prices have decreased for Délı̨nę and Paulatuk.
In Łútsël K’é the cost of gas has gone down while costs for heating fuel and diesel have gone up. In Jean Marie River the cost for diesel is increasing by one cent per litre while gas and heating fuel costs remain unchanged.
The NWT government adjusts fuel prices at least twice per calendar year, following the summer barge supply and then the winter road supply.
The department said it is required to set retail fuel prices at amounts that recover the full laid-in cost of fuel.
The next price change is set to take place in July.
