RCMP say they have arrested and charged a 53-year-old woman after a 74-year-old man was seriously injured in Fort Providence.
Police said they received a report on the morning of February 26 that the man had fallen and was injured.
While investigating, police said, officers determined the man had been assaulted by the complainant and seized evidence from the home related to the alleged offence.
The man was transported out of the community with serious injuries, according to RCMP.
Police said they arrested the woman, whom they did not name, and charged her with aggravated assault.

She was released from custody and is set to appear in court on the charge at a later date, RCMP said.
