Yellowknife RCMP have confirmed the three youths who went missing over the weekend have been located “safe and sound” in Ndilo, thanks to a tip they received on Monday morning.

RCMP only issued a media release asking for help in locating for one of the three missing youths – a 10-year-old boy who they confirmed was found safe earlier today.

On Monday afternoon, they released new information about the investigation confirming two 12-year-olds had also been reported missing over the weekend.

Three youths reported missing

The 10-year-old was first reported missing on Saturday at 6:30pm. He had been last seen on Friday night near Walmart around 8pm.

“RCMP began a missing person’s investigation immediately and conducted checks in the area.  Businesses were canvassed for possible sightings or leads,” stated the RCMP in a media release on Monday.

On Sunday afternoon, RCMP issued a release requesting the public’s assistance in locating the boy and Yellowknife Ground Search and Rescue helped to search trails throughout the city.

While searching for the boy, RCMP learned that a 12-year-old male had also not been home since Friday evening.

And then on Sunday night at 11:30pm, a third youth was reported missing: a 12-year-old female.

Police believe the three youths are known to each other.

The investigation expanded to include the general investigate section, the major crimes unit, and additional RCMP members.

After locating the three youths in a residence in Ndilo, police transported them to the RCMP station to be released to their families.
