Emergency crews attended a house fire on Yellowknife’s Range Lake Road on Tuesday afternoon.

The blue trailer at 104 Larocque Crescent, on the corner of Range Lake Road and Larocque, was reported to be on fire shortly before 2pm.

Damage from the fire appeared significant. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

“A duty crew of eight responded,” a City of Yellowknife spokesperson said in a short statement. “A full group alert initiated as the fire was spreading.”

By 2pm, a range of firefighting vehicles, an ambulance, and municipal enforcement officers were in attendance. Smoke could be seen coming from the windows of the house.

At 2:15pm, Cabin Radio was advised by a member of the fire department that crews had the fire under control.

Early indications suggest a barbecue on the deck may have been the cause.
