The NWT Department of Infrastructure says vehicles that have been abandoned at the Inuvik Mike Zubko Airport parking lot will be removed late next month.
In a Monday news release, the department said vehicles that have been parked at the airport for more than three months will be towed at the owner’s expense starting April 30, unless arrangements are made with the airport manager.
Starting May 1, the department said any vehicles that are left in the airport parking lot for more than one month will be considered abandoned and removed. It said any drivers planning to leave their vehicle in the parking lot for longer than a month will have to make arrangements with the airport manager.
According to the department, abandoned vehicles are taking up space and interfering with maintenance at the Inuvik airport.
Under the territory’s Motor Vehicles Act, airport managers in the NWT have the authority to remove abandoned vehicles.
