The plan, if there was one. How volunteers were treated. Who knew about the order and when. Sheltering in place. Vulnerable people. Better coordination.

These are just some of the issues Yellowknife residents raised when handed a microphone on Wednesday by KPMG, which is reviewing how the city handled last year’s wildfires and evacuation.

Not everyone criticized the city. Some residents said staff had done the best they could.

Others said they felt let down by multiple levels of government and would not trust the same authorities again.

KPMG says it’ll finish its review by the end of June. The city says KPMG’s report will be made public.
