The City of Yellowknife is asking residents and businesses in the Kam Lake neighbourhood to provide their thoughts on future development of the area.

The city is in the process of creating a new area development plan that will provide a vision for how more than 68 hectares of land west of Enterprise Drive will be developed.

The area is surrounded by Enterprise Drive to the northeast, Grace Lake Boulevard to the south and commissioner’s land to the west.

According to the community plan, the area could accommodate light industrial and commercial development.

A development plan would provide more detail on the development of specific areas and policies on subdivision, land uses, density, essential services and facilities, road layouts, and the phasing of development.

The city plans to complete the area development plan this winter.

Anyone interested in providing input on the plan can complete a survey on the city’s website until 4:30pm on June 17. Residents can also send comments or questions by email.
