Łı́ı́dlı̨ı̨ Kų́ę́ First Nation will elect chief and council on July 11

Nominations have opened for the Łı́ı́dlı̨ı̨ Kų́ę́ First Nation’s chief and council election.

Members have until June 28 to submit nominations, forms for which can be found at the Fort Simpson-based First Nation’s office or by contacting the returning officer using information provided on Facebook.

An advance poll will be held on July 3 at the old band office.

On election day – Thursday, July 11 – voting will take place at the rec centre from 10am till 5pm.

Eight council positions must be filled alongside the role of chief.

Six people ran for chief in 2021. Kele Antoine, who won that election with 82 votes to his nearest two rivals’ 45, has said he will seek a second term.
