Det’on Cho Management LP has acquired local food distributor Northbest Distributors Ltd.
Det’on Cho, which is wholly owned by the Yellowknives Dene First Nation, announced the acquisition in a press release last week. It said Northbest supplies food to stores, restaurants, mining camps and other institutions across the NWT.
“We are excited to announce Northbest Distributors is joining the Det’on Cho Group of Companies as a 100-percent
Indigenous-owned business,” Philip Goulet, chair of Det’on Cho, said in a statement. “I look forward to seeing the Det’on
Cho team’s plans for Northbest implemented over the next year across Chief Drygeese Territory and the Northwest Territories.”
Det’on Cho said the Northbest team will continue to operate from its facility on Old Airport Road.
