United Way NWT has appointed Mandi Parkes as its new executive director.
In a news release, the organization said Parkes steps into the role with more than 12 years of experience in the non-profit sector, including work in programming, operations and fundraising across social services, youth development, recreation and the arts.
Parkes replaces Linda Bussey, who had held the role since October 2023.
Board chair Ben Linaker thanked Bussey for her two and a half years of leadership, including supporting Whatì and Fort Providence during their 2025 wildfire-related evacuations and guiding recovery efforts after the 2023 wildfire season.
“United Way NWT plays a vital role in connecting people, resources, and solutions across the territory,” Linaker said. “Mandi brings a thoughtful, collaborative leadership style and a genuine passion for community building. We are excited to welcome them and look forward to the impact they will help drive across the North.”
Parkes said they are grateful for the opportunity to lead the organization and work alongside communities across the territory, adding they look forward to building on United Way NWT’s strong relationships and “supporting community-centred work that creates lasting impact.”
