Fort Simpson RCMP charge five people with drug trafficking

Five people are facing charges after RCMP searched a residence in Fort Simpson as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

In a Monday news release, RCMP said officers searched the home on June 20 and seized more than $3,400 in cash, approximately 65 grams of suspected crack cocaine and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Carl Carpenter, 54 and Deidra Villeneuve, 36, of Fort Simpson as well as Adrian Tambour, 42, and Faith Martel, 23, of Kátł’odeeche First Nation, and Savy You, 38 of Ontario have each been charged with possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possessing property obtained by crime.

Martel has additionally been charged with failing to comply with release order conditions and escaping lawful custody.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
